Comte Vineyard
Hardego 19, 32-310 Klucze Tourist subregion: Krakowski
A vineyard on the Eagle Nests Trail.
The vineyard was established in 2005 by Maciej Kaplita. Since 2007, it has been covering an area of 0.6 hectares, comprising two plots of lands in Klucze near Olkusz. The soil, which is typical for the Krakow-Częstochowa Upland, supports two varieties of vinis vinifera vine – dornfelder, used for making red wines, as well as muscat ottonel for white wines. The dornfelder wine made by the vineyard and aged in French barrels is its leading product, considered to be one of the best of its kind in Poland. A string of adverse weather conditions – including cold snaps and the tornado, which occurred in that area in the summer of 2012 – caused great damage to the vineyard, which is still in the process of being rebuilt.
