Blessed Aniela Salawa

A diligent domestic servant in Krakow (1881–1922), she stemmed from a poor and large family from Siepraw. Deeply pious, she took the vow of chastity and received the Eucharist every day. In 1913 she joined the Third Order of St. Francis and during the First World War she cared for the wounded and the prisoners of war. She died after a long illness in poverty. Beatified by John Paul II in 1991. She is buried in the Franciscan Church in Krakow, while her sanctuary is located in her home village of Siepraw.
